The Procedure
After an initial consultation that helps determine the type of look you would like to achieve, you will come in for the actual procedure. Lasting only a few hours, the procedure consists of a few steps. First, general anesthesia is administered; you will be unconscious for the duration of the procedure. Next, an incision is created in one of several places to be determined beforehand: at the crease of the underside of the breast, in the armpit, around the nipple, or at the navel. Each incision location has its own benefit, and the type of incision that is right for you will be determined during your initial consultation. Then the implant, either silicone or saline, is eased through the incision, and placed inside the breast. The final resting place of the implant is either below the chest muscle, or above it. Once the implant is set, the incisions are closed with sutures, and you are allowed to rest. Results will be noticeable immediately, and swelling and scarring will eventually fade after some time.
