Meet Dr. Morgan
Dr. L Richard Morgan has been in plastic surgery practice since 1968 and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify plastic surgeons. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, a General Surgery Residency at Letterman General Hospital, San Francisco, California and a Plastic Surgery Residency at Barnes Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
He is clinical assistant professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Davis, and at the Uniformed Services University of Health Services, Military Medicine Education Institute, Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Morgan served as Chief of Surgery at the 3rd Field
Hospital in Vietnam, where he was responsible for the
repair facial and hand injuries. In 1968 he became Chief
of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Valley
Forge General Hospital in Pennsylvania, which was the
main reconstructive center on the East Coast for soldiers
from Vietnam. In 1971 he became Chief of Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery at the Fitzsimmons Medical Center
in Denver, Colorado. Dr Morgan retired as a colonel
in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps in 1999.
He is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate Association, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Burn Association, and he is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Lipoplasty Society of North America and is a resident surgeon of the Northern California Cleft Palate Panel.
