DR. L. RICHARD MORGAN: The majority of the breast reductions that we do are for a combination of reasons. Prominent among those are the pain that people have in their neck, back and shoulders. It turns out you can almost see someone, because of their posture, that is brought down by heavy breasts. Women go to great lengths to find foundation garments that hold them and they don't. Finally, either through friends or their own recognizance or a doctor will refer them in to have the heavy breasts taken care of. Often that paves the way for them to decide to do better in other areas and it will initiate a dieting and I've seen people do great things after a breast reduction because they do feel good about it and they can see how they could look and they start to match the rest of their body to that.
